Activities and Events

We run a number of different activities and events for Young Adult carers throughout the year. Please expand the list below for more details of upcoming events and activities:

Thursdays 6-8pm (Starting 23rd June), Daisy Park Community Centre, Motherwell

These workshops will give you the chance to get professional tuition with a range of state of the art instruments, recording equipment and video editing software! The workshops are really laid-back and as well as learning to play new instruments you can relax and meet other Young Adult Carers who understand your caring role (and eat FREE pizza). The workshops will usually include a session at a recording studio and the chance to record a CD.

Below is a video of our last session at the recording studio:

Quotes from previous Reeltime Workshops:

“Music brings people together. This is a genius idea to give people some time out. Keep up the good work and let me come back please!”

“It’s been great to meet up with other people who are in a similar situation. When I first heard about it I just thought it was going to be music lessons. I’m glad I tried it because it was nothing like I expected, it’s been great and if you can keep doing it you can help a lot of other carers.”

Second and fourth Tuesday of each Month
6pm - 8pm
Hope United Church, 98 Orbiston St, Motherwell, Lanarkshire ML1 1PX

This social group places an emphasis on giving Young Adult Carers respite from their caring role. The group will usually relax, chat, play computer games and basketball. It also allows Young Adult Carers to discuss other activities and trips they would like to organise through the project.

The group is also a way of learning more about the support on offer through the Carers Centre and there will be the YAC support worker in attendance if you require one-to one support with your caring role.

Rowardennan Lodge Residential Trip – Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August

This residential trip will take place over the last weekend of the summer and we will be staying in the idyllic settings of Rowardennan Lodge by the bank of Loch Lomond.

Over the course of the weekend we will take part in various adventure activities such as Raft Building, Archery, Survival Skills and Canoeing. This weekend will be a great chance for Young Adult Carers to take part in fun and challenging activities in a new environment and we can’t wait for the trip to come around.

We have 10 spaces for the residential trip but they are filling up quickly so please get in touch if you are interested in learning more.

If you are interested in attending this trip, please contact Ewan Roy, Young Adult Carer Support Worker on 01698 428090 / 07746 303612
